米コーニング社、3Dシェイプ「ゴリラガラス」の製造準備が整ったことを発表！　― うわさの湾曲画面iPhoneやiWatchでの採用が現実的に！

米コーニング社が、強化ガラス「ゴリラガラス」を3Dの曲面で製造する技術を確立したと発表しています。米コーニング社はiOSデバイスの主要なガラスサプライヤーだけに、うわさされている湾曲画面を採用したiPhoneやウェアラブルデバイス「iWatch」への採用がより現実的になったと言えそうです。

iPhoneは隔年でデザインを一新しており、2014年の今年はフルモデルチェンジの年にあたります。主要なガラスサプライヤーである米コーニング社のこの技術が取り入れられる可能性はおおいにあると思われます。米コーニング社もプレスリリースの中で「この薄型化、軽量化された技術で、モバイル及びウェアラブルデバイスの設計支援をしていく」と言っています。
